Thank You.

We fell short. We didn’t accomplish all that we wished to. But it only ends once. And this clearly isn’t that once. More to come. I just didn’t want to be that politician who stopped talking when there was nothing to gain and no votes to earn. I’m going to sleep and things will get clearer in the next few days I’m sure. Again, I can’t thank each of you enough for the faith, belief, and commitment you showed in me. I pray that I lived up to it.

Hey Surya! It’s been a while since I’ve been here. So sorry to hear you didn’t get into congress at this time, but I’m sure wherever and whatever you do, you’ll still make a difference in the world for the better.
I hope I don’t seem so presumptuous for someone who’s only ever watched you on The Apprentice but you’ve always seemed to be that kind of guy anyway :)

Surya, don’t let this defeat be a down fall for you. I’ve known you many years and always known that whatever an outcome is of a situation you always had a smile. You should be proud to have reached as far as you did. Don’t stop! As my mother always says “sometimes you have to take a step back to go a step forward”. As a fellow American I’m proud to say my buddy stepped up to try and make a difference.

It is better to be defeated on principle than to win on lies.

Life moves on, whether we act as cowards or heroes. Life has no other discipline to impose, if we would but realize it, than to accept life unquestioningly. Everything we shut our eyes to, everything we run away from, everything we deny, denigrate or despise, serves to defeat us in the end. What seems nasty, painful, evil, can become a source of beauty, joy, and strength, if faced with an open mind. Every moment is a golden one for him who has the vision to recognize it as such.

Surya your words touched me as so sincere that I voted for you and I’m a Republican. Listen to the people and keep running, we need new blood in office.

Thank you for running. If elections were decided on qualifications and aptitude instead of blind ideology, you would have won in a landslide.

Surya….don’t let this defeat stop you. We HAVE to keep working on this…..and we need YOU in the fight. You lost, but BOY you did so with HONOR. NO PAC or special interest money. An INTELLIGENT campaign run by a THINKING, INTELLIGENT person. WE NEED people like you in government….people with BRAINS and COMPASSION….vs.MONEY and the party line. PLEASE don’t give up. Step back and take some time to recover and figure out where to go from here. Maybe you and Steve Driehaus can figure out how to join forces…..

Best Wishes,

Anni

Surya, you ran a principled, passionate, intelligent campaign and I truly respect your commitment to bring change to Washington amidst this Great Recession. This national wave against Obama and Democrat-led Congress surely played a key role in Schmidt’s re-election. Anyone who paid close attention to you and Schmidt this fall should know that she didn’t deserve the privilege of representing the 2nd district for another 2 years. I’m sure this campaign is the start of a promising political career, if that is the path you wish to take.

Good luck in the future.
You deserve to be representing the people in congress.

More importantly, We as Americans deserve to have representatives who represent US and not the Private Backers and Lobbyists.

Keep trying and keep showing people what is good for them!

Surya, I voted absentee ballot for you. I noticed you did pretty well in Hamilton County. Run for something where a majority of voters come from there! I would love to see you in Washington.

Thank you for a thoughtful, positive campaign. We need your clarity, commitment to all citizens and forward direction in Washington. As a long term public policy devotee you stood out among all the negative chatter and blame game. Good luck, but please don’t leave the political stage. You are the future.

Surya,
Why not run for an elected office and come into the next election with some experience at *something* in the public sector? Many of the things that you said in the campaign were beyond naive and the fact that you didn’t realize it showed your weakness and your tendancy to think that the public sector is like the private sector.

Scmidt is certainly not a good candidate but she will win until someone better comes along (soon hopefully). Personally, I am far too conservative to vote for you but I was excited to see some different names in the race this time. However, after doing some research on you, it was difficult to see how your platform, once in Congress, would have been any different than Victoria Wulsin or any other Democrat.

Your campaign reminds me of your appearance on “The Apprentice” -specifically the episode where you were transferred from the successful team to the one who had lost each challange. You then took it upon yourself to lecture the other contestants with an assortment of generalized points, none of which would have made a single bit of difference in the competition given the circumstances. The rolling eyes of the other team members should have been your first clue, but you kept on going because of your belief that you knew better.

I picture the voters in this past election, those with some knowledge of the issues, collectively rolling their eyes at the feel-good, generalizations that you made and then voting for Schmidt. If you learn from this experience, you may indeed win a future election because you have a compelling story and are a likeable candidate.
